Ebony
Education
Ebony Gibson, Owner of Can I Grieve University, has always had a passion for helping people. Early in life Ebony had the opportunity to work in childcare and in her father's restaurant supporting her family business.
These experiences planted a deep desire in her to serve children, the community, and small businesses. Ebony attended Virginia State University where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in mass communications. After graduating college Ebony experienced the unexpected passing of her mother in 2017.
Passion
In the process of adjusting to a form of normalcy and healing, Ebony developed a passion to help other individuals navigate through grief. In 2021, Ebony launched Can I Grieve LLC to restore hope in individuals after loss. Ebony has been able to touch several lives from children to adults with her teachings in grief and healing and has pursued certification in bereavement ministry to better serve her grievers. Ebony attributes 100 percent of her success to God and her mother’s teachings. Her greatest accomplishment thus far is seeing the lives of others being positively impacted by her teachings and giving back to the community.
Vision
Can I Grieve University’s vision is to spread awareness about grief and loss by educating communities across the world. We understand the importance of investing time and energy into the healing process, and that the effects could be costly when grief goes unresolved. We provide individuals with tools and resources to be able to embark on a healthy healing journey. We plan to make an impact globally by helping individuals find joy and purpose after experiencing a loss in addition to restoring hope for their future.

Ebony's workshop enabled communities to gain a new perspective around grief and provided the staff with support as well, in addition to utilizing social media to empower the community to look at grief from a different lens. I will continue to refer Ebony as her workshops have helped me and impacted the lives of so many others because of her knowledge and experience.
